This art work was inspired by the work of the artist Roald Bradstock and his cut collage techniques. I have chosen Dance as my theme because I absolutely love to dance and the movements of dancing are so elegant, also there are so many varieties of dance. I think dance is an inspiring sport and as such I chose to link it with Roald Bradstock.

After completing this project I feel like I have achieved more than what I first aimed for. This is because what I first planned was just supposed to show dance moves but, after developing the art work further, I added meaning into the art work. The meaning of this piece of art is that everybody, no matter what shape, size or colour, can dance. This is shown by the three images different colours and sizes in the centre of the art work.
Personally I enjoyed this project alot because not only did we learn about new art techniques but also about sport and the Olympics. If I could do this piece again I think I would add images of dances from other countries to my art work.
Trishul Mehta (Year 8)
The art work that I am doing in class is based around sport collages and how to show movement in a cut collage. I was inspired to be unique and do a sport which no one was doing so I looked for a cool photo of badminton in the Olympics. Eventually I got a really amazing shot of a player suspended in mid air whilst going to smash the shuttlecock. Also, I chose to do badminton because it’s my favorite sport and is really fun and active.
I definitely enjoyed doing this project because I loved putting the different colors together and layering them to make a vibrant eye catching piece of art which now I am proud of. Furthermore, I loved how I could test which colors go together and which combination of colors didn’t go together. I had the power to make the art work look simple and plain with few colors and as well I had the power to make it complex with lots of detail and colors. Personally, my art work shows that when you’re trying to get ideas for art you don’t have to look for boring things as anything can inspire you and be transformed into art!
Taran Dhesi (Year 8)
I am a big fan of cricket and decided to have a cricketer as my main feature. The figure is playing a shot and I have showed several ways the ball could have travelled. Then the next thing I focused on was the Olympics and have included the Olympic rings around the player. In my art piece I have included repetition, movement and cut collage.
