Bike training on offer for families

MANOR House Neighbourhood Centre is offering free cycle training courses for families during the schools half-term holiday.

Free family Bikeability cycle training courses will be available from Tuesday, October 22 to Friday, October 25, and run from 10.30am until 12 noon.

The courses are aimed at families wanting to learn to ride or improve their cycling and will take place on a mainly off-road route along the Great Central Way and in local parks.

People are encouraged to bring their own bicycles, but cycle and helmet loans can be arranged.

The course, which has been funded through the Westcotes area ward committee, is open to all ages and abilities but under-16s must be accompanied by an adult.

Deputy City Mayor Cllr Rory Palmer said: "Bikeability is a great way for poeple of all ages to build the skills and confidence they need to cycle safely in the city. We want to encourage as many people as possible to discover the benefits of cycling. It's fun, healthy and cheap and these courses are a great place to start for families that want to ride their bikes together."

Places for all courses are limited and can be booked in advance by calling Manor House Neighbourhood Centre, Haddenham Road, on 0116 222 1021.
