Get sports skills at park

Youngstersare getting the chance to learn sporting skills at a series of events at Leicester's Evington Park.

The Tuesday evening sessions which run throughout September are introducing children aged eight to 14 to the skills needed to for athletics and a range of track and field events seen in the London 2012 Olympics.

Activities include the standing long jump, hammer throwing, an obstacle course and tips on how to get the best start in a sprint.

The sessions take place on September 4, 11, 18 and 25, from 5pm to 7pm, and are run by a UK Athletics coach.
