People can find out the latest news on the London 2012 Olympics and the events happening in the city thanks to the One Leicester iphone app.

A new bolt-on to the One Leicester app has been developed to include details of the historic sporting event, including information on events taking place in the city and the latest Olympics news.

Deputy City Mayor councillor Rory Palmer, who officially launched the app today at Phoenix Square, said: "Although the Olympics is being held in London, supporting events are taking place up and down the country, including Leicester.

"Not only will the Olympic torch be passing through the city, we will be proudly hosting a celebration event and putting on a programme of events to help support and mark the occasion.

"In order for people to keep up-to-date with what's going on in the city and across the country, our One Leicester app has been developed to include all the latest news and events surrounding London 2012.

"I would encourage iphone users in the city to download the app and find out more."

The One Leicester iphone app is free to download from the app store.
