The London 2012 Live Site screen in Humberstone Gate in Leicester will become a quizmaster on Thursday (September 8th) when BT tests the city’s Paralympic knowledge.
To celebrate International Paralympic Day BT is running a quiz across the giant screens in city centres up and down the country – prize winners will be picked at random from the top scoring city at the end of the day.
It will give people living, working or just visiting Leicester a chance to really be a part of the exciting build-up to London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
International Paralympic Day will be a great opportunity for the public to experience first-hand the inspiration and excitement that the Paralympic Games will bring to the UK and London next year.
The main event is taking place in Trafalgar Square in London where a full day of activity is planned, to celebrate elite Paralympic sport and give the public a chance to find out about each of the 20 sports to take place at the London 2012 Paralympic Games.
Paralympic content and quiz questions will run on the Leicester screen throughout the day from 11am to 6pm. To get Leicester to the top of the leader board and for your chance to win one of five Panasonic digital cameras, just go to the big screen and text 83310 with the question number and the answer – remembering to start the text with LEI (for Leicester). Messages will cost your standard network rate.
A leader board showing the most knowledgeable cities will be displayed on the big screen throughout the day.
Paul Bimson BT’s regional partnership director for the East Midlands, said: “This is a really fun way to celebrate International Paralympic Day and get into the spirit of London 2012. The Live Site here in Leicester can really pull the community together and we can test our brains against the rest of the UK. It’s a great example of the power of communications and BT is excited to be part of the International Paralympic Day celebrations.”
The Live Site screens are run in partnership with London 2012, the BBC and local authorities. They are in urban centres around the UK and offer live information, video, news and community events.
