Insights into the Games

The University of Leicester is to stage a series of public events Lectures to celebrate London 2012. The University’s Sports and Recreation Service has organised a series of public lectures as part of the University’s engagement with the Olympic and Paralympic Games.
All lectures, which are free and open to the public, start at 5.30pm and take place in Ken Edwards Lecture Theatre 3 or Attenborough Lecture Theatre 1.
Director of Sport, Colin Hide commented: "The Olympics is the greatest show on Earth and will excite a generation of sports - and non sports - fans. This lecture series will attempt to make sense of the Olympics both past and present and begin the University’s engagement with London 2012."
On Thursday 10 March Barbara Slater, the BBC’s Head of Sport, will talk about how the BBC plans to take audiences to the heart of the action, broadcasting every hour of every sport, and how the BBC plans to tackle the huge logistical challenge of providing audiences with the coverage that they would expect from the greatest sporting event ever held in this country.
This lecture will take place in the Ken Edwards Lecture Theatre at 5.30pm.

Insights into the Games has been granted the prestigious London 2012 Inspire Mark, the badge of the London 2012 Inspire programme which recognises exceptional and innovative projects inspired by the 2012 Games.
