National Family Week is a celebration of families and family life. The aim is to promote spending quality time as a family, as well as promoting the benefits of a healthy lifestyle. With thousands of record-setting, action-packed and fun-filled family events taking place during the Summer Half Term Holiday, families everywhere can enjoy learning, playing, exploring and getting out being active together.

The Monkey Marrow Run takes place within the grounds of Abbey Park on Sunday 6th June with all proceeds going to the Anthony Nolan Trust.

Cycling champions in Leicester and the surrounding areas are invited to become British Cycling qualified Ride Leaders. You can get involved in the Sky Ride programme this summer, and other recreational cycling opportunities.

Team Green Britain has joined forces with Bike Week, the biggest cycling event in the UK, to create Team Green Britain Bike Week 2010.

Entries are now open for the East Midlands Big Swim, an exciting new open water swim. Taking place on July 11th at Bosworth Water Trust Leisure and Water Park, the event runs hand in hand with the Midland Open Championships which take place on the same day.

On Sunday 29th August, Leicester will be transformed into a cyclists’ paradise, complete with a festival area and roaming entertainment as Sky Ride visits Leicester.

To Celebrate 100 Days to London 2012 – Rutland Local Sports Alliance, Rutland County Council, Stevenage Leisure,Inspire LeicesterShire and Leicester-Shire and Rutland Sport have teamed up to bring a day of activities at Catmose Sports Centre.

Join a creative and healthy movement workshop. The workshop will be fun and will include both active and relaxing activities. The workshop is part of Routes, a Dance4 project in partnership with The Leicester Sport Partnership Trust.

The Big Dance School Pledge is a mass participation dance event for schools across the UK and around the world. It will take place at 1pm on 18 May 2012 – the day that the Olympic torch arrives in the UK. Big Dance is about showing lots of different types of Dance in unusual places and this year will be a world record attempt.
