Be amazed by the biggest blanket Leicester & Leicestershire has ever seen!
Back in 2010, Inspire LeicesterShire & Lionheart Project asked for help to create a 'London 2012 inspired' pledge blanket in aid of Age UK, Leicester Shire & Rutland. Two years on, the My Games My Legacy 'Patchwork Pledge' project has become an overwhelming success. The project was designed to inspire people of all ages to get involved and get creative by knitting or crocheting 6" squares to be joined together into one large blanket that celebrates the Games in 2012. Each square counted as one pledge, so the more people pledged, the bigger the blanket got.
Made up of over 22,000 squares and measuring approximately 500 square metres, the blanket is a unique celebration of community spirit, and can be viewed on the Mezzanine floor of the Curve Theatre in Leicester. The exhibition is FREE to view.
My Games My Legacy has been granted the prestigious London 2012 Inspire Mark, the badge of the London 2012 Inspire programme which recognises exceptional and innovative projects inspired by the London 2012 Games.
